IVISII 19 Inch Ring Light
There are a bunch of ring lights available. This IVISII 19 Inch Ring Light sets itself apart with a couple of value added components that provide us a couple of neat and handy capabilities.
Opening
I have another ring light that I like. In terms of overall performance they are quite similar. This light set worked. Its adjustments were as advertised and the remote control is very helpful for a solo creator. The included accessories are also very helpful. There are small, medium and tall cold shoe mounts along with mounts for both smartphones and tablets. These last two items are helpful if you use your devices to do live streaming.
IVISII Ring Light Accessories
The various mounts fit into three cold shoe sockets on the ring light, so you can mount a camera or phone and then mount an external mic such as a small shotgun mic. The controls are easy to understand and it’s easy to configure the light. As with other ring lights I’ve used, you can configure the light for several setting combos by using one of the user five programmable groups. There are also a bunch of channels you can select to reduce interference in case someone else is using a similar light with a remote.
You can also set up several lights to work together speeding up your workflow by not having to adjust each light individually. These are fairly common features so here are some features that set this set apart.
IVISII Ring Light Features
First, this set comes with three sets of additional snap-on diffusers. Red, green and blue diffusers allow you to do some creative effects with color to set a mood or accomplish some other requirement.
Second, this set can run on both AC or DC power. On the AC side, it comes with a power transformer and two connection cords – one for the US and the other for the EU countries. It also has two battery connections to Sony NP –style batteries. Mounting a pair of this style battery will get you the 12 -18 volts the light requires. The on off switch is a three way switch labeled for either battery or AC power.
Battery operation allows you to take the light places where AC power isn’t available. That might mean using if for some fill lighting on a sunny day or getting the bride’s and bridesmaids’ makeup just perfect in a less than perfect dressing room.
Third. Speaking of power, there’s a USB A socket on the control panel that allows you to power your phone or other device that can be charged via a typical USB charger. This can help ensure you aren’t bothered with low power notices when using your phone’s video capabilities for live streaming or longer shooting sessions.
Closing
I’d have to call the included tripod stand a medium duty stand. It’s sturdy and made of metal. There are four adjustable extensions and with a 19-inch diameter light attached, it will just about touch an 8 foot ceiling. The light itself is mostly plastic. While not delicate, you’ll want to treat it with care to get good longevity.
There are less expensive 19-inch ring lights out there but the overall quality and extra features on this IVISII set make it worth the few extra dollars.
